Windsor

Windsor is a beautiful Georgian and Victorian town which grew up around the magnificent castle. On the banks of the River Thames it is home to one of the world's most captivating and traditional castles. Towers, turrets and even uniformed soldiers on guard, it's very difficult not to fall in love with this place.

Windsor Castle is undoubtedly the highlight of a visit to Windsor. It is one of the Queen's official residences and unique in having been in continuous use for over 900 years. The State Apartments contain many historic treasures, Queen Mary's Dolls' House, donated to the late Queen Mary by the nation, is a 1:12 scale working model complete with furniture, decorations, running water and electricity. St.George's chapel is the burial place of ten monarchs.

However it would really be a crime to miss the other sites on hand. Take a walk across the River Thames to Eton filled with its delightful stores ranging from antiques to home made chocolate. Today Windsor continues to grow as one of England's most loved tourist attractions. The Modern theme park of Legoland is a few minutes away from the city centre and offers fun for all the family

Windsor Great Park ,the 4,500 acres of park includes Windsor Castle, the Copper Horse on Snow Hill (an equestrian statue of King George III dressed in a roman toga). The Long Walk (a three mile avenue of trees) and Frogmore Mausoleum, where the bodies of Queen Victoria and the Prince consort rest.
